April 27, 2026 DFW Supercell Hail Outbreak — What Drivers Need to Know

A widespread supercell tracked across the entire Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex on Monday, April 27, 2026, dropping golf-ball to tennis-ball sized hail from Denton south to Waxahachie and as far east as Greenville.

Garland Rockwall Fate Royse City Plano Mesquite

Storm reports filed with the National Weather Service confirmed hail stones ranging from 1.75″ to 2.75″ across the metroplex between roughly 3:15 PM and 6:40 PM on April 27, 2026. Hardest-hit pockets included Firewheel and Duck Creek in Garland, the Lake Ray Hubbard shoreline and Harbor District in Rockwall, Williamsburg and Woodcreek in Fate, and Verandah and Waterscape in Royse City.

If your vehicle was outside that afternoon — driveway, work parking lot, or in transit — you likely have at least some hood, roof, or trunk damage even if it isn't obvious at a glance. Hail dents on horizontal panels are notoriously hard to see in direct sunlight; check yours in shade or with a flashlight at an angle.
